Almost two decades ago (2003), a Streetscape Project commenced on the Venetian Islands, encompassing Rivo Alto, Di Lido, and San Marino. Since the project began, multiple delays and changes prompted further setbacks, including pausing construction to redesign the stormwater system.
In September 2020, the Administration, Commission, and VIHA (Venetian Islands Homeowners Association) reached an agreement to undertake the necessary repairs and the final layering of asphalt. There have since been delays due to the processing of permits and permit expiration.
Residents of the Venetian Islands are displeased and have communicated their frustration to the City Administration (see attachment 1). The City Administration, in turn, is also seeking to move forward with this project but has found many challenges (see attachment 2).
This item asks for the City Commission to review the project's status and understand the next steps and timing.
