RECOMMENDATION

The Administration recommends approving the proposed ordinance amendments and setting a second reading

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

The administration finds the need to update Chapter 2 of the Miami Beach City Code entitled “Administration” by amending Article IV, entitled "Officers and Employees," by amending division I, entitled "Generally," by amending section 2-191, entitled "Enumeration of Organizational units,” we have had departmental changes and need to amend subsections (g) and (z). We need to eliminate subsection (z) Fleet department. The department has been incorporated into a division under the Property Management Department. Subsection (g) will now be the Facilities and Fleet Management Department. Over the last two years the Property Management team has assumed responsibility for significant additional functions around the City.

• Asset Management (previously under Economic Development) which is responsible for leasing city owned properties throughout the City.
• Beach Maintenance (previously an independent division under an ACM)- Clearly a critical asset for tourism and a recreational amenity for area residents.
• Fleet Management (previously a separate department) which manages in-house all of the City’s equipment and vehicle purchasing and maintenance.
