On February 23, 2021, the Committee for Quality Education made the following motion regarding funds allocated to MB Nautilus Middle School from the CFP Foundation:

The Committee for Quality Education requests the Mayor and City Commission follow-up on Resolution No. 2020-31503 to ensure funds allocated to Nautilus Middle School at $20,000, were utilized in the school as intended per terms of the resolution. The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above request.
The School Board of Miami-Dade County entered into a grant agreement with the College Football Playoff Foundation, Inc. on January 16, 2020. The grant agreement allowed for the CFP Foundation to invest in and support a Middle School Redesign Initiative that was being carried out by the School Board at select schools within the district over an eighteen-month period. The budget for the agreement included sixteen (16) full Innovation Space projects, at a cost of up to $120,000 for each project, including a customized renovated room with carpet tiles, painting, removal of shelving and old furniture, modular furniture, soft seating, white board walls, wall wraps and technology (e.g. laptop cards, green rooms, virtual goggles, etc.). The budget also included three (3) enhancements to already completed Innovation Space projects, at a cost of up to $20,000 for each project. MB Nautilus Middle School was included as one of the enhancement projects at an amount up to $20,000 with a checkout counter enhancement indicated on the Attachment "A" to the grant agreement with MDCPS.
On April 14, 2020, $5,494.08 was spent at Nautilus Middle School for the circulation desk and on September 23, 2020, $4,165.00 was spent on full color wall wraps. According to Erick Laventure, Administrative Director Office of Design & Sustainability MDCPS, MB Nautilus Middle School had received $9,659.08 from the CFP grant agreement with the school district.
On March 15, 2021, Britton Banowsky of CFP, emailed MB Nautilus Middle Principal Mary Murphy a Donors Choose voucher, in the amount of $12,000, to enable the school to secure additional resources to meet the needs of the teachers and students. Additionally, Mr. Banowsky offered to host a lunch for all teachers and staff to express CFP's appreciation to them for their dedication during these extraordinary times.
Principal Murphy indicated via emails on March 26, 2021 and April 12, 2021 her intent to meet with the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and school leadership team to decide how best to use the funds.
