ANALYSIS

Celebrity Beach Soccer Match (“CBSM”) founded and organized by Julianna Strout, and supported by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, would like to host its third event in Miami Beach, as it did in 2018 and 2019. The proceeds of the event will provide monetary support to the Education Foundation. CBSM will also host a number of events on Miami Beach associated with the main event and is committed to supporting local businesses.

As depicted in the supplemental material, CBSM is scheduled to take place on November 20th, 2021, from 12 pm to 4 pm at the North Beach Bandshell and the UNIDAD center, along with the volleyball courts. The charity event will be open to the public, including a clinic for children to learn soccer. At the end of the event, CBSM will cover all costs associated with cleaning and removal, ensuring all facilities are returned to the City as found.

The organization is asking for the waiver of special event permit fees, in an amount not to exceed $20,000.00. The waiver fees include, but are not limited, to the following fees:

$250.00  Application Fee

 $250.00  Permit Fee

$5,000.00  Security deposit (estimated attendance was 950)

In the past, the event has attracted positive media coverage and will further improve Miami Beach’s brand. CBSM coincides with the City’s efforts to promote family-friendly activation, having its previous events generate 96 million impressions to generate positive branding. Moreover, the organization is supported by Best Buddies and other organizations, helping the City strengthen its roots as being a City of Kindness.
