| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Vice-Mayor Michael Gongora | | DATE: | March 17, 2021 | | |
| SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE - DISCUSSION REGARDING FUNDING FOR THE BYRON CARLYLE THEATRE. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Please place on the March 17 Commission agenda a discussion item regarding the Byron Carlyle Theatre. I would like for the administration to present us a plan to restore the Byron Carlyle theatre to be fully functional, including:
Possible funding sources;
1) An itemized breakdown on the needed emergency repairs to re-open the theater; and
2) A comprehensive plan for what we would like to see the theater become, including potential programming that can take place there.
3) Potential partnership opportunities with local universities to establish a business incubator and education programs there. Please feel free to reach out to Diana Fontani should you need any additional information.
4) Possibility of establishing a Latin Music Hall of Fame at the Bryon Carlyle Theatre similar to what was done in Cleveland, Ohio. See link for additional information : https://www.rockhall.com
Please feel free to reach out to Diana Fontani should you need any additional information.
