SUBJECT:REVIEW THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF SUPER BOWL 2020 AND THE MIAMI HERALD ARTICLE REGARDING TALKS OF A FREE CONCERT

HISTORY:

Super Bowl LIV  was an annual football  game played to determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2019 season. The American Football Conference (AFC) champion Kansas City Chiefs defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champion San Francisco 49s 31-20, marking their first Super Bowl victory since Super Bowl IV and the Chiefs' first NFL championship since joining the league in the AFT-NFL merger.

The game was played on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.  This was the eleventh Super Bowl hosted by the South Florida region and the sixth Super Bowl hosted in Miami Gardens, which hosted Super Bowl ten years earlier.

The Miami Beach Convention Center served as the Super Bowl Fan Experience, numerous events were held in the City hotels and venues, and Lummus Park served as the broadcast hub for Fox News and other global networks.

In August 2020, the Super Bowl Host Committee released a Super Bowl LIV Live It Miami Economic Impact Report (see attached).

A snapshot of the report, which analyzed the economic impact on Miami-Dade County, concluded that the total event hosting and visitor spending economic impact on South Florida was 4,597 full-time/part-time jobs and $571.9M total output.

The study considers tourism and hotel/lodging trends and performance metrics.
