SUBJECT:DISCUSSION REGARDING ANTI-BULLYING TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAME.

HISTORY:

On June 24, 2020 the Anti-Bullying Taskforce issued LTC 225-2020 which included recommendations Noted in Exhibit 1 for various actions by a variety of departments to accomplish the objective of providing protection from bullying in all City services, City-supported services, and City facilities.

 

UPDATE:

 

Human Resources
HR.16.04 - Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment policy was amended in September 2019 to specifically include bullying as a prohibited action. This policy includes how and where to file a complaint.

HR has an existing policy for Prevention of Workplace Violence which was updated in November 2017.

It should be noted that violations of both of the above are zero tolerance policies and will result in discipline, and most often termination of employment.

The HR department is updating its employee handbook and will reference the above two existing policies.

Parks and Recreation
Developed an Anti-Bullying Policy for all facilities and participants.

Developed and Anti-Bullying Behavior Agreement for all participants which must be signed by the parents and by Juniors, Pre-Teens and Teen participant.

Developed the Bully Free Pledge

Tourism and Culture

Will be including Anti-Bullying language in contracts and agreements for sponsorships.
