COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Ricky Arriola | | DATE: | July 29, 2020 | | |
| SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS ESTABLISHING AN ARTISTIC UTILITY BOX WRAP PROGRAM. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| The City of Ft. Lauderdale has a Utility Box Wrap Program that transforms traffic control boxes and other utility boxes into pieces of art with a custom vinyl wrap. The program has the benefits of serving as a wayfinding map with storytelling tools, enhances the visual pedestrian experience, promotes a sense of community by showcasing the unique character of neighborhoods, and reduces blight by discouraging graffiti, posters, stickers, and vandalism. I ask that the Finance Committee discuss establishing and funding a similar program on Miami Beach. |
