SUBJECT:	REFERRAL TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE STATUS OF BICYCLE SAFETY MEASURES BEING ENACTED ON THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY.

ANALYSIS

On August 29th, 2019, several media outlets shared news of a female struck from behind and killed while she was riding her bicycle on the Miami side of the Venetian Causeway. Given that cycling is an important mode of transportation in Miami Beach, the City met with staff from Miami-Dade County and discussed bike lane protection and spacing of the bike lane itself. This item asks for an update on these discussions as well as an evaluation of which further safety measures may be taken.
