COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Mark Samuelian | | DATE: | December 11, 2019 | | |
| SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY RESOLUTION URGING MUNICIPALITIES TO ADOPT POST-DISASTER TEMPORARY ZONING RELIEF. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Damage done by recent natural disasters (for example, Hurricane Irma) has prompted the County to promote the health, safety, and welfare of its residents by providing certain temporary zoning relief (eg. temporary use of an RV for living purposes on properties where the principal residence has been deemed uninhabitable, among other things) in connection with a local state of emergency. As such, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners recently adopted a resolution urging municipalities within the County to adopt as soon as possible post-disaster temporary zoning relief similar to that adopted by Miami-Dade County in its own ordinances. |
