SUBJECT:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A DONATION OF OUTDOOR GYM EQUIPMENT FROM TIGER FITNESS, WHICH WILL BE LOCATED IN THE 6T" STREET FITNESS AREA IN LUMMUS PARK, FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO THE SUPER BOWL LIV WEEKEND IN 2020.


RECOMMENDATION

Mayor and City Commission to approve and authorize the City of Miami Beach to accept a donation of outdoor gym equipment by Tiger Fitness, which will be located in the 6th Street fitness area in Lummus Park, for the use and benefit of the public; and further authorizing the City Manager to exercise due diligence in establishing the terms of the donation expeditiously, in order to complete installation prior to Super Bowl LIV weekend in 2020.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

The City of Miami Beach has been offered a donation of certain outdoor gym equipment by Tiger Fitness, known as “StreetBarbell” machines, featuring a combined exerciser, ab/back trainer, shoulder press, bench press, squat machine, combolift, seated dips, multibar, pulldown and a rowing machine.

 

The donated gym equipment would be installed in the 6th street fitness area at Lummus Park, subject to any and all required City approvals. Timeliness is a factor, as the Parks and Recreation Department would like to have the equipment installed prior to Super Bowl LIV weekend in 2020

 

Tiger Fitness will coordinate the installation of the outdoor gym equipment with City Staff, and the City will be responsible for any required fill, landscaping, and permitting that may be required for the installation of the donated outdoor gym equipment.

 

The state-of-the-art outdoor gym equipment to be donated by Tiger Fitness is valued at $73,000.00 and will provide a high-quality fitness amenity to be used and enjoyed by the public.
