SUBJECT:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ACCEPT AN IN-KIND SPONSORSHIP FROM THE SETAl HOTEL, WITH A VALUE OF APPROXIMATELY $3,976.20, TO OFFSET THE COSTS OF THE 2019 ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH ANNUAL OFFICIAL LUNCH.


RECOMMENDATION

The Administration recommends accepting the donation.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Each year the City of Miami Beach hosts the Art Basel Miami Beach Official Lunch - an annual event hosted by one of Miami Beach's premiere hotels for the officials from Art Basel Miami Beach,  Messe Schweiz, and elected officials from the City of Basel and Miami Beach.

 

Art Basel Miami Beach has become the preeminent contemporary art fair in the western hemisphere, and an established destination for artists, galleries, collectors, museum groups, and other individuals interested in top quality art.

 

Art Basel Miami Beach is a marquee event and generates thousands of hotel room nights annually within the City of Miami Beach. 

 

 

ANALYSIS

The value of 2018 Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Lunch, at the Setai Hotel, was approximately $3,375. The Setai Hotel Miami Beach will host and off-set the estimate cost $3,976.20 for the 2019 Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Lunch.

 

Staff is working diligently with the Setai Hotel Miami Beach to coordinate the luncheon and welcome the Art Basel dignitaries. Administration recommends the adoption of the attached Resolution authorizing the acceptance of this sponsorship, to cover the cost the 2019 Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Lunch.

Administration recommends the adoption of the attached Resolution authorizing the acceptance of this sponsorship, to cover the cost the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Lunch.
