| | SUBJECT: | A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING (A/E) DESIGN SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AND CALVIN, GIORDANO AND ASSOCIATES, (CGA) FOR ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PREPARATION OF AN ARBORIST REPORT, REDESIGN OF THE MAIN PATHWAY, AND PREPARATION OF SELECT RENDERINGS, FOR THE NORTH BEACH OCEANSIDE PARK PROJECT, IN THE NEGOTIATED NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $129,893, WITH PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED FUNDING. |

| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND/HISTORY
| On December 9, 2015, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2015-29233, pursuant to Request for Proposals No. 2015-211-KB, authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to negotiate an agreement with CGA, for architectural and design services for the North Beach Oceanside Park (f.k.a. North Shore Open Space Park).
On June 23, 2016, the Mayor and City Clerk executed an agreement, pursuant to adopted Resolution No. 2015-29233, with CGA for architectural and design services for the North Beach Oceanside Park in the amount of $660,220.
On August 19, 2016, Amendment 1, in the amount of $49,330, was executed to include site studies associated with a proposed skate park, and as detailed in CGA’s proposal dated July 14, 2016, increasing the total contract amount to $709,550.
During the design review process comments were received regarding the width of the pathways. In order to reduce the amount of impervious areas, the design team, as part of this Amendment 2 (Attachment A), will revise the construction drawings to reduce the width of the main pathway.
Additionally, this Amendment 2 will provide for the preparation of an Arborist’s Report, not originally included in the design team’s scope of services. This report is required to document current conditions of existing specimen trees and complete the permitting process.
Finally, this Amendment 2 will serve to compensate CGA for the preparation of renderings and graphics which will help to visualize park improvements.

| | CGA has provided proposals for the modification of the pathway widths, the preparation of a required Arborist Report and the preparation of select renderings, in a not to exceed amount of $129,893. Staff reviewed the proposals and found them to be commensurate with the additional scope and expected effort. This Amendment 2 will increase the total contract amount to $839,443. |
