Please discuss partially funding, a block party in honor of Micky Wolfson’s 80th birthday. The Wolfsonian is requesting the City to contribute $25,000 to help underwrite the $52,702 expense.
Attached please find the budget for the Block Party celebrating Micky Wolfson’s 80th birthday at The Wolfsonian on Thursday, November 14, 2019. The evening will consist of both the opening of the new Wolfsonian exhibition, A Universe of Things: Micky Wolfson Collects, and the outdoor block party on 10th Street, between Washington and Collins. Attached is the site plan which The Wolfsonian submitted for permitting for reference. The Washington Avenue BID will contribute $1,000 towards the event, and The Wolfsonian would like to ask the City of Miami Beach to contribute $25,000 to help underwrite the $52,702 expense.
The block party is a free event and will be promoted heavily to the residents of Miami Beach. There will also be a concert by Nu Deco Ensemble, a City of Miami Beach partner, as well as food trucks and beverage sales. The FIU marching band will perform and the evening will be full of pomp and circumstance, as befitting both Micky Wolfson and the City he loves so dearly!
