| | SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE FINANCE AND CITYWIDE PROJECTS COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS SPONSORING PRIDE 2020. |

| Miami Beach Pride has submitted a sponsorship request for its 2020 festival, which is scheduled for March 30th- April 5th, 2020. The organization is seeking a cash sponsorship in the amount of $283,386 and is also requesting a $30,893.25 fee waiver. The festival is free and open to the public and continues to grow in popularity year after year. This increase in popularity forces the producers to expand their programming offerings, which naturally leads to an increase in expenses.
For 2020, Pride is planning to expand its programming in the following ways:
• Changing the festival from 2 days to 3.
• New programming including an art crawl, an art deco walking tour, film screenings, a retail crawl, and educational panels.
• Increasing the quality of entertainment of musical headliners.
• Adding a kids play zone.
• Hosting a beach volleyball tournament.
• Considering programming in North Beach.
• Increasing women and transgender programming throughout the week.
• Adding a Pride March from the City Hall after the rainbow flag raising.
I ask the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee to consider the attached proposal at the July 19, 2019 budget hearing. |
