COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM

TO: Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee Members

FROM:
Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager

DATE: July 23, 2019

SUBJECT:DISCUSSION REGARDING SOURCING SUITABLE VENDORS FOR THE MAIN CONVENTION CENTER PARK, THROUGH AN RFLI PROCESS, IN PREPARATION OF THE COMPLETION OF THE MAIN CONVENTION CENTER PARK CONSTRUCTION.

KEY INTENDED OUTCOME:
Enhance Cultural and Recreational Activities

HISTORY:

The administration believes that sourcing high end, suitable vendors for the Main Convention Center Park will add to the quality of life of residents and tourists utilizing the park, and the overall look and feel of the park.

In the attached presentation, you will see the administrations recommendation on what types of vendors we would deem as suitable in look and feel and vendor offerings.

The administration will work with Spectra and Centerplate and the MBCC to ensure that all activities happening in the Main Convention Center Park, complement and do not conflict with any activities that may be taking place within the MBCC.

Issuing this RFLI will not contract the administration to moving forward with this plan, but rather, allow us to begin to compile a database of vendors to be engaged as we see fit.

CONCLUSION:
The Administration recommends the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee to accept and approve the administration to issue an RFLI to source and pre-approve suitable vendors for the main Convention Center Park, in anticipation of the completion of the park in October 2019 as per the attached presentation.
