SUBJECT:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE MUTUAL AID AGREEMENTS WITH THE FOLLOWING GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES: 1) CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA; 2) TOWN OF GOLDEN BEACH, FLORIDA; 3) CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA; 4) CITY OF NORTH BAY VILLAGE, FLORIDA; 5) CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA; 6) CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA; FOR THE PURPOSE OF COORDINATING LAW ENFORCEMENT PLANNING, OPERATIONS, AND MUTUAL AID BENEFIT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND THE CITY OF AVENTURA, TOWN OF GOLDEN BEACH, CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, CITY OF NORTH BAY VILLAGE, CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, AND THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH.


ANALYSIS

In an effort to respond to a variety of large scale, natural and man-made disasters or events, law enforcement agencies rely on each other to provide a variety of resources. Examples include; special events, spontaneous incidents, natural disasters, or other emergency situations that may threaten the health or safety of persons or property. By providing inter-agency assistance, law enforcement agencies are able to maximize the rapid deployment of human and material resources during critical times.

 

The following six municipalities, given the authority under Part 1, Chapter 23, Florida Statutes, “the Florida Mutual Aid Act,” are ready to execute this mutual aid agreement:

 

The City of Aventura

The Town of Golden Beach

The City of Miami Gardens

The City of North Bay Village

The City of South Miami

The City of Sunny Isles Beach

 

The Miami Beach Police Department requests the Mayor and the City Commission to authorize the City Manager and City Clerk to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement with the listed municipalities.
