SUBJECT:REFERRAL TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY NEIGHBORHOODS AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS BEST USE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 7605 COLLINS AVENUE.

ANALYSIS

I would like to refer an item to the Public Safety Neighborhoods and Quality of Life Committee (the "Committee") to discuss the best use by the City for the property located at 7605 Collins Avenue to be acquired by the City.

 

At its January 31, 2024 meeting, the City Commission approved proceeding with the purchase of the single family residence located at 7605 Collins Avenue owned by Rudy Perez and Elizabeth Perez (the "Property") subject to final approval of the purchase and sale agreement by the Mayor and City Commission. The City currently owns all of the other lots on the eastern 7600 block of Collins Avenue, which comprise Altos del Mar Park. (See attached aerial map.) I would like for the Committee to discuss possible renovation and repurposing of the structure located at the Property for use as a community facility as well as the possible demolition of the structure and restoration of the lot as a green space to "complete" the Altos del Mar Park.

 

The appropriate representatives from Administration should be prepared to participate in this discussion.
