Please place on the February 9, 2022 City Commission agenda a referral to the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee, pursuant to the City’s Naming Ordinance as set forth in Section 82-503 of the City Code, to discuss the re-naming of Indian Beach Park, located at 4601 Collins Avenue, as “MidBeach Park.”

Improvements to Indian Beach Park were recently completed after years of planning, in a successful collaboration with City staff and residents, including members of the MidBeach Neighborhood Association. The MidBeach Neighborhood Association has proposed renaming the park MidBeach Park. As the City’s Naming Ordinance already provides that the City Commission may rename a park after a geographic location of the City, I propose that we gather public input at the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee and subsequent Commission meeting.
