SUBJECT:A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM MIAMI-DADE COUNTY OF ONE (1) 2006 METALCRAFT MARINE FIRESTORM 36 FIREBOAT ("VESSEL") FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT.

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt the Resolution.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved the donation of a 2006 Metalcraft Marine Firestorm 36 Fireboat through commission action at their November 16, 2021, (Resolution R-1079-21).  The value of the vessel is $50,000.00. The vessel is no longer in service by the Miami-Dade County Fire Department.

 

The Miami Beach Fire Department will fully refurbish the vessel and use it to augment the regional waterborne response to marine Firefighting, Search and Rescue (SAR) and to provide a secondary source of water for waterfront property fires where the existing domestic supply may not be capable of sustaining the volumes of water needed for extinguishment.

The City Administration recommends that the City Commission approve and authorize the City’s acceptance of the aforestated donation.
