A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM THE VIDA & ESTILO RESTAURANT GROUP, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $2,500.00, FOR THE CITY’S 2021 HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH AWARDS RECEPTION, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HER DESIGNEE, TO APPROPRIATE SUCH SPONSORSHIP FUNDS AND DONATIONS TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY REIMBURSEMENTS AND/OR EXPENDITURES IN FURTHERANCE OF AND CONSISTENT WITH THE EVENT.

The administration recommends that the Mayor and Commission adopt the resolution.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs each year from September 15 through October 15 and celebrates the long and important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans in North America.  The City of Miami Beach hosts events throughout the month promoting the celebration of Hispanic culture in our City.

Hispanic Affairs Committee members worked diligently to identify funding sources to off-set the costs of producing the activities and secured a donation from the Vida & Estilo Restaurant Group.   

The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission retroactively approve the sponsorship, and accept the donation from the aforestated sponsor, in the total amount of $2,500.00 to cover the costs of the 2021 Hispanic Heritage Month awards reception.  

The City Administration further recommends that Mayor and City Commission authorize the City Manager, or her designee, to appropriate such a donation to make any necessary expenditures and/or reimbursements in furtherance of and consistent with the aforestated event and its purpose.
