Please add to the June 23rd City Commission Meeting agenda a referral to the July 30, 2021 Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee a discussion on the possible funding & implementation of the Stop the Bleed Kits at all our Miami Beach and feeder pattern schools. The kits, paired with training sessions will provide school staff with the necessary skills and equipment needed to stop bleeding from a traumatic injury after a school shooting or accident. Kit Training will be provided for free by Dr. Patricia Byers from Jackson Health Ryder Trauma Center and Miami-Dade County Public Schools will provide blood pathogen training. Stop the Bleed Kits have recently been implemented at Miami Beach Senior High School.  The cost per kit is $62.50 and the cost per wall mount (MDCPS requires) is $45.00.  While the hope is to never use or need these kits, I urge us to explore making our schools a safer place for our children.
