COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Ricky Arriola | | DATE: | January 13, 2021 | | |
| SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS ADOPTING A BIKE SAFETY ORDINANCE. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| In 2019, the City of Cambridge made it a requirement to build protected bike lanes on the Cambridge Bicycle Plan streets when they are being reconstructed according to their Five Year Sidewalk and Street maintenance plan. I have asked our Transportation Department to enact a similar ordinance to ensure that when we build bike lanes, they are protected for our riders and that we set a mandatory timeline for completion of our Bike Master Plan. Attached is the sample ordinance. |
